Pioneer Cabin on the McCormick Property

Union Amusement Hall

Dances were held at the Union Amusement Hall. It was located on the corner of 9th east and Union Avenue. The amusement hall was originally and LDS Church owned and operated facility used as a community gathering and event space. The amusement hall was likely torn down in the late 1950's and early 1960's. This photograph is likely looking towards the east.

Union Cash Store

Union Ward House

This building was near the Union Amusement Hall. It was the first ward house built outside of the original Fort Union, likely meaning it was built in the 1870's or 1880's.

Utah Power Plant at Big Cottonwood Canyon

This is the Utah Power Plant at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. The plant was built to generate power for the electric trolley cars in downtown Salt Lake City.

Utah Sand and Gravel Pit

This sand and gravel pit was located east of 2300 east and Butler Hill. It is looking north toward downtown Salt Lake City. Photograph was donated by former Cottonwood Heights Mayor Mike Peterson who used to live on Virginia Hills Drive.

Whiting House

This house was located in the Poverty Flats area.

Winn Farm

Photograph of one of the four orchards located on the Winn Ranch. This was the orchard closest to the homes built on the property. Photograph is looking directly at Ferguson Canyon. Power lines are evident in the photograph and carried electricity into the immediate area.
